Image Metrics unveils “Emily” at Siggraph Trade Show
The Wall Street Journal's "Market Watch" reports that Image Metrics, the leading provider of facial animation solutions to the entertainment industry, will debut their Computer Generated "Emily" model at the Siggraph 2008 trade show in Los Angeles. Image Metrics partnered with Paul Debevec of the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies to create a completely photo-realistic computer-generated (CG) animated face.
"Image Metrics aims to be the first studio to produce a completely convincing Computer Generated (CG) character based on a human being, at High Definition resolution," says company owner David Barton. "We wanted to work with Emily for this project because of her obvious acting talent, and her engrossing personality. Image Metrics' animation technology is the world's leading process for capturing human facial movements, meaning whatever Emily does in her performance Image Metrics can replicate that on the CG ‘Emily' model. This project has already created excitement around the CG industry and ‘Emily' (both real and CG) will be the talk of the Visual Effects world."
"Emily" will make her worldwide debut in Image Metrics' booth at Siggraph 2008 in Los Angeles, August 12 - 14. A behind-the-scenes Tech Talk on Emily's creation will be given on August 13.
