10th Annual Afternoon Tea
Emily joined Y& R’s Christian LeBlanc (Michael), Michael Graziadei (Daniel), and Chris Engen (Victor Newman Jr.) at the “Young and the Restless 10th Annual Afternoon Tea” in Vancouver on July 12. Kate Linder (Esther) hosted the event, which benefits the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. High Tea was followed by a question and answer session, raffle, live auction, exclusive “Young and the Restless” merchandise, and an autograph session.

The event drew more than 300 soap opera fans to the sold-out Marriott Hotel ballroom in downtown Vancouver. British Columbia fans are among the most faithful of the top-rated CBS drama.
Kate Linder, who has played Esther Valentine, faithful housekeeper to Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) on the show for the past 26 years, started the fundraising tea in Vancouver ten years ago, when she was meeting friend and local fundraiser Robin Wyss. Their breakfast kept getting interrupted by Y&R fans coming over to say hi to "Esther."
"[Robin] was shocked," says Linder. "And I said, 'You're missing the boat. To raise money, you should do an event with “The Young and the Restless” people…[I suggested] a tea, because that's what my character does. Serves tea," says Linder."Only it would be a real classy tea, to raise money."
She was right, and for the next decade, she and various Y &R castmates have headed to Vancouver, the only place Linder holds the event. This year, the “elegant Emily O’Brien” joined Christian LeBlanc who acted as a “quick-witted, energetic” MC, “cheeky charmer” Michael Graziadei, and “smouldering and slightly scruffy in a Marlboro Man kind of way” Chris Engen.Source: Vancouver Sun
